Baylon Architects is a Mornington Peninsula–based architectural practice led by Jack Ryan together with his wife Claire. The studio focuses primarily on residential projects across the east coast of Australia. Prior to founding the practice, Jack spent almost a decade leading major projects at two of the most recognised firms in Australia and Japan.
What sets Jack apart is his distinctive skill set. He began his career in the construction industry, which instilled a practical and grounded approach to his work. He later pursued studies in drafting, refining his ability to communicate design ideas clearly and efficiently. Jack ultimately immersed himself in architecture, driven by an enduring optimism that thoughtful design can improve the way people live.
Claire brings a complementary perspective to the practice. With a background in design, she leads Baylon’s branding, storytelling, marketing and administration, helping shape the studio’s identity while ensuring the practice operates smoothly behind the scenes.
Today, Baylon continues to embody these principles through close collaboration with builders, consultants and other industry experts. This approach keeps the practice grounded in constructability, materials and cost, while allowing the studio to navigate the ever-changing construction landscape with confidence. Alongside practice, Jack has also contributed to architectural education, previously teaching at Bond University and sharing practical insights with the next generation of architects.
